In Nutcrusher, Sung-Im Her’s personal observations land her squarely among the trending topics. Starkly repetitive and energetic, NUTCRUSHER looks at sexual objectification and power. The work questions how we relate to our bodies, how they are presented and re-presented, and how cultural context affects this. #metoo and #timesup started in the West and fanned out all over the world. The impact in South Korea, Sung-Im Her’s home country, was considerable. She questions the objectification of women. Through persistent techno and repetitive gestures, she and her female dancers move towards a genderless universe.
