Madam Peruz

A hoarder has collected all the belongings from a closed theatre. While telling this unique treasure to the audience and his puppet friends, he finds a chest. Inside are notes and newspaper clippings about the famous 19th-century singer Madam Peruz. As he reads them, he begins to perform. Through the hoarder’s narration, scenes from Peruz’s life come alive. Songs, storytelling, traditional theatre, puppets, drama, and melodrama accompany her story. This rich variety presents the 19th-century theatre tradition while shedding light on the lives of artists of the era through Madam Peruz’s eyes.
