"In the Shadow of the Plane Tree" is adapted from Hasan Hüseyin Korkmazgil’s "Ağlasun Ayşafağı" and is staged as a tribute to this great poet. The aim of the play is to remind the true value of art in today's world, where popular culture and box office concerns dominate, and to reach those who do not know Hasan Hüseyin with his verses. The poet's works have not found a place in bookstores for years and are on the verge of being forgotten like other literary values. In contrast, the play sheds light on the history, poverty, suffering, and quest for justice of Anatolia through Hasan Hüseyin’s perspective. Echoing Mazdek's questions, it questions the concepts of existence-nonexistence, slavery, and servitude. "In the Shadow of the Plane Tree" narrates the struggle for justice and freedom, reaching back to the 1970s. It connects with the audience through verses that witness the sorrows and deprivations of the peoples of Anatolia from the shade of the plane tree, instilling hope.
