The play establishes a structure that reflects the action of waiting and the concepts of expectation, hope and hopelessness, the desire to exist and the inevitable fate of existence, alongside the absurdity created by the finitude of the future promised by birth, and the desperate efforts made to make this absurdity seem rational.
